founder and choreographer Trisha Brown

In 1970, Trisha Brown founded her company and explored the places of Soho, her adoptive city home, by creating choreography for alternative spaces, roofs and walls of buildings included, playing with gravity, exploiting it and in some cases even challenging it. Her research into movement made ordinary daily gestures extraordinary by questioning the very concept of show.She also pushed back the limits of choreography through the use of avant-garde technologies, changing modern dance forever. Since 1961, when she moved to New York after her studies, she has created over 100 choreographies.
